Visualizing Success: A Case Study on SEO and Local SEO

Introduction:

Our client is a cutting edge Business-to-Business (B2B) consulting firm but with a difference in that it undertakes implementation of the findings, either with its team or with the client’s team, depending upon the requirement. The website of the client had reasonably good content and a good visual appeal but was plagued with poor online visibility, that too within a limited geography. The client retained us for six months to refurbish thoroughly its Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts.

Challenges:

The website of the client had the following problems:

  • Suboptimal on-page SEO with issues about page title and meta description of many pages
  • A limited number of backlinks
  • Most importantly, quite a few keywords were not present even in the top 100 positions in Google search

Objectives:

  • Improve Ranking on Search Engine Result Pages (SERP)
  • Enhance the online visibility of the firm at the all-India level as well as within select cities

Strategy and Implementation:

  • Technical SEO Improvements:

Recognizing the pivotal role of technical SEO, we focused on enhancing website performance and user experience. This entailed optimizing site speed across devices including laptops and mobiles, creating internal links to streamline navigation, and ensuring a seamless and engaging user journey.

  • Keyword Research and On-Page Optimization:

We undertook extensive keyword research to identify high-search-volume, low-competition keywords relevant to business consulting services. The subsequent implementation involved a meticulous correction of SEO title and meta description issues on each page, thereby ensuring seamless integration of chosen keywords.

  • Off-Page Activities and Link Building:

To overcome backlink limitations, a diverse and robust link-building strategy was deployed. This included creating backlinks through guest posts with original content, industry forums, and authoritative general as well as industry-specific business directories. Emphasis was placed on the quality of backlinks rather than quantity – those backlinks were preferred and were high in quality even though their number was low.

  • Local SEO through GMB:

This included incorporating accurate and updated NAP (Name, Address & Phone Number), optimizing the content using geo-specific keywords, ensuring an engaging presence through company-specific posts, and a focus on getting ratings and reviews from professional contacts. The success of these efforts manifested in achieving the top-ranking position on GMB for the selected keyword “business consulting firms in India” within just 4 months.

  • Mobile SEO:

A special emphasis was placed on addressing both speed and user experience on mobile phones. The website was optimized to load swiftly on mobile handsets. Furthermore, we ensured that navigation on the mobile was intuitively designed and had a user-friendly interface to ensure an engaging mobile experience.

Results & Conclusion:

Within just four months, the implemented strategy started yielding tangible and significant results. There was an improvement in online visibility, with targeted keywords securing prominent positions on SERPs. The client achieved the highly coveted top-ranking position on GMB for critical keywords.
